About Susan & Her Photo Art; Horses, HeART & Transformation
I Portray the powerful and magical essence of the horse ~ Susan
Susan has loved horses as well as creating art since her earliest childhood memories. Along with art and horses she also embraced technology early on, uniting both hemispheres of her brain. Horses allow us to tap into our internal resources, allowing us to find the muse that lives inside each of us and to create from an authentic place.
Magical, Touching, Intuitive, Visionary, Soulful, Transformative, Creation
Her magical creations of Horse touch the hearts of many, providing people with a moment to slow down and access their feelings and heart; Equi-esse are the imagery of the heart, soul and essence of the equine spirit.
The love for horses and creating never went away and if we examine our childhood dreams we can often translate that into a career with passion and life. Voilá!!
windHorse; the horse reflects back to us our true nature. The windhorse or lung-ta, allegorically represents the strength of the human soul.
There are two components of the wind horse – the first is the wind, or chi, which is the life force energy or vitality and secondly the horse which symbolizes strength, journey and the ability to overcome obstacles.
Horses also bring with them an ancient truth and deep spiritual awareness. It is through the inner wisdom of the horse that we can come to know ourselves and therefore know each other. As humans our existence is often narcotized by our own constant internal commentary.
The windHorses invite and guide the viewer on a journey of expanded dimensions of consciousness and discovery where they may connect with the infinite silence that is the Self. When connected with the Self, there is freedom from the confines of time and location allowing a connection with all that there is; to simply “Be”. To create, the artist has to be in union with the true self. Then her/his artwork will transmit the timeless essence of the universe and communicate from the deepest level of our being while simultaneously connecting to all other beings. It is my desire that you also experience the work in this manner.
Testimonials“As the natural world reveals itself to her, Susan intuitively connects to the Spirit of her subjects, capturing their very essence and transforming a photographic image into a magical, captivating piece of art.” ~ Anna Twinney; Reach Out to Horses
“Susan’s equine images dance between the plains of consciousness evoking strong emotions that are sometimes uncomfortable because we feel them in our heart or the core of our being. The ethereal use of light and shadow create both an air of mystery and hope. Reality and dream time often merge, as the observer can be drawn into the image through the horse’s penetrating eyes; eyes that seem to know your innermost story but also have their own story to tell if you listen.” ~ Lisa Winston; founder of Peak Exposure
“Thanks to Susan’s enchanted photography I was able to offer viewers of my film, Wild Horses In Winds of Change, a closer look at the mystical beauty that captivates me when I visit the wild horses on the range.” ~ Mara LeGrand, filmmaker, Skydancer Productions
“Susan’s photography truly captures the sensual, emotional and often mystical presence of a horse. Her keen eye and masterful skill of working with her images on canvas brings each piece into a true work of art to be treasured forever.” ~ Kathy Pike (Coaching With Horses and cofounder of the Horse as Teacher book project, Carbondale CO)
“Susan’s work is remarkable in its beauty and spirit, capturing the essence of the horses’ souls in an ethereal realm, almost as if in another reality. Inspiring and full of energy, her photos are extraordinary in their depth.” ~ Marilyn Schwader (Clarity of Vision, Inc. Life and writing coach and cofounder of the Horse as Teacher Book project, Oregon)
“Susan’s art, is remarkably not bound to the single dimension of paper. Her images are fully fleshed out and speak to the viewer bridging the captured personal experience and making a universal translation known in one’s core. Looking through the filter of Susan’s creative process, the emotion and connection with her equine subjects is obvious and available. Her gift is in blurring the line between the corporeal and the stuff dreams are made of in capturing reality made rich with and supported by undercurrents of palpable emotion. Susan sees the edgy, comical, gritty, poignant and powerful but elusive fragments of equine life and pulls them through her lens resulting in a transmuted view which has an otherworldly feel at once dramatic and softened by the heart. She captures the unseen vibration and the essence of feelings of her horse and human subjects so that the viewer is never outside, but rather a participant in the shared soul.” ~ Molly K Campbell (Prosperity guide, Healer and former Wall Street Banker, Boulder CO)
“When Susan walks with horses, she waits for the moment when soul connects to soul and then captures their voices and spirits on film. She does not take simple photographs of the pretty horses, but rather, gives us a vision of each horse in its unique expression of Divine relationship. And so to view one of Susan’s works becomes an opportunity to see, hear, and feel the spirit of the horse; taking with us the inspiration and healing that is freely offered by these wonderful beings.” ~ Cathy Ray (equestrian, trainer and Spirit Horse Transformations coach, Paw Paw Michigan)
